I have been a Lead Auditor for many years now and my main focus is to help firms write and develop their Management Systems. I carry out gap analysis and recommend improvement plans. Thereafter I work with identified individuals and teams within the organisation to fully develop and test (audit) the system to ensure certification. I also assist with certification body choices. Once certification is achieved, I can either carry out the planned internal audits or train someone else to carry them out, thus ensuring continued certification.I can also assist firms striving for Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditatiion. Most smaller companies looking for MCS accreditation are good technically but tend not to have the staff/time/capability to address the onerous paperwork aspect for MCS. WIth my experience in Management System Consultancy, I can use these skills to help develop the MCS required paperwork.

I am responsible for maintaining OGN’s compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 1800, FPAL, PED and contractual obligations by providing a compliance service to the individual projects.My responsibilities are wide raging and include :-Conducting compliance audits and following up to ensure that compliance systems are in place and functioning.Preparation and maintenance of audit schedules for all OGN business units and areas.Accompanying external auditors as the OGN representative.Performing audits within OGN and on suppliers against the schedules and additional requirements. Observing supplier/subcontractors own audits.Performing appraisals of prospective suppliers at their premises.Raising corrective actions against noted deficiencies.Following-up and closing-out corrective actions and recommendations.Assisting with the development and improvement of Company/Corporate procedures.Administration and Maintenance of the company databases for Audits, CARs and RECs.Provision of a general compliance consultancy service to all areas of the Company and Projects.Maintenance/overseeing of the Company Calibration System including the database.To be familiar with and administrate where necessary other quality databases eg. Meeting Actions, Procedures, Library, Suppliers and FPAL.To carry out any other Corporate Services as requested by and agreed with the Head of Compliance Provision of compliance services to OGN Group Business Units and Projects as requested/required.Provision of Compliance input to tenders, drafting tender compliance plans.General Compliance duties as requested by the OGN Head of Compliance or as delegated by the project compliance co-ordinatorUpholding the OGN policies for Quality, Health, Safety and Environment.

Through my MCS and Management Systems Consultancy, I met a number of companies involved in the renewable/sustainable technologies market. InFlector was one of those companies. InFlector was developed by NASA for the space shuttle and so is truly space age technology. InFlector provides a thermal barrier for windows, enabling your windows to have the same U value as your walls. However, InFlector is transparent and delivered as a vertical or roller blind. I believe its one of the most cost effective and hassle free solutions to solar gain etc.

I was involved with the training arm of the Longhirst Group, delivering training to a wide variety of clients. After training, I moved on to manage all Quality Management for the Group, from Portsmouth to Berwick. As we took on additional offices with differing Management systems and certification bodies, i was tasked with managing the change to 1 certification body, which I did successfully. I also acted as the facilities officer for the Group. This meant lease and utilities contract negotiation as well as upkeep, DDA compliance, asbestos management, grade II building management and other tasks as deemed necessary.
