Responsible for developing and monitoring the implementation of assistance projects promoting poverty alleviation and gender equality in rural areas in Nepal. Provided technical assistance to projects focused on enhancing livelihoods and promoting agricultural entrepreneurship among disadvantaged women in the district of Rasuwa. Duties included: drafting donor reports; concept note and project proposal formulation; mainstreaming gender into the project cycle and in the development of activities and training materials; and preparing research papers.

Home-Based, With Travel To Kosovo

Authored a study on the availability and accessibility of support services for women and girls subjected to gender-based violence in Kosovo. The study included tailor-made recommendations for improving policy and practice, and the results were presented to key line ministries, government agencies and NGOs during a one-day seminar in Pristina.

Coordination and implementation of co-operation projects funded by the Norway Grants in the areas of gender and violence against women and girls in Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Ensured a range of project management tasks including: planning and evaluation of activities; narrative and financial reporting to donors; budget and expenditure follow-up; liaising with government entities, external experts and donors; preparation of concept notes, terms of reference and contracts; participation in fact-finding missions to beneficiary states, steering committee meetings and project events. Planned and co-ordinated study visits to member states and training events in beneficiary countries, and contributed to the definition of conference scopes and programmes. Provided substantive and co-ordination support including identification of external experts for project activities and overall supervision of their work, research and monitoring of policy developments in beneficiary states, drafting and copy-editing of training material and analytical studies, and provision of policy advice to ensure the application of a human-rights based and gender-sensitive approach at project and programme level in beneficiary states.

Provided technical, co-ordination and logistical support in view of defining a roadmap for protecting workers from “unacceptable forms of work” (e.g., forced and child labour), to be piloted in selected ILO countries. Ensured the successful organisation of a two-day 60 expert workshop for key ILO staff from HQ and the field by: assisting in the conceptualisation and planning of the workshop; handling venue logistics; acting as focal point for the event; and drafting supporting event documents. Produced background documents, literature reviews and terms of reference for studies and consultants. Assisted in the design of, and conducted semi-structured expert interviews with over 20 key ILO experts, processing and analysing the data for the purpose of identifying dimensions and metrics of unacceptable forms of work.

Provided substantive support in various areas of relevance to the “Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence” (Istanbul Convention). Successfully launched and carried out the 4th monitoring round of Recommendation Rec(2002)5 on the protection of women against violence. Authored several research outputs including a comparative study on shelter legislation in 47 member states, an analytical overview of international human rights supervisory mechanisms and a comparative analysis of the Istanbul Convention and the CEDAW framework. Drafted background documents, speeches, promotional material, and reviewed commissioned studies. Participated as keynote speaker in several external events with a view to promote signature and ratification of the Convention.

Contributed to the report “Policy learning and innovation in local regimes of home-based care for the elderly: Germany, Scotland and Switzerland”. Specifically, was in charge of the Scottish local case study involving User Panels and the promotion of older people’s participation in health care. Undertook fieldwork in a Scottish rural local authority, conducted lengthy semi-structured interviews with stakeholders, ensured data collection, processing and exploration, drafted and proofread research outputs.

Provided logistical and technical support to the intergovernmental “Ad Hoc Committee on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence” (CAHVIO) and its Chairs during the drafting process of the Istanbul Convention. Replaced the Co-Secretary of CAHVIO during her maternity leave for a total of 6 months. Contributed to the preparation and organisation of six CAHVIO meetings and provided substantive support during intergovernmental negotiations for the adoption of the Convention. Drafted CAHVIO meeting reports, research papers and working documents, memoranda, op-eds and press releases, speeches and contributions relating to gender equality and violence against women. Represented the Council of Europe in conferences and study visits. Contributed to the Convention’s promotion and communication strategy, in particular by conceptualising the structure and content of the Convention’s website. Contributed to the drafting of the Secretary General’s report on progress in the field of gender equality in the Council of Europe.
