This role involves leading a team whose responsibility is to prepare the Clydesdale Bank PLC and National Australia Group Europe Limited financial statements. It includes working with the Accounting Policy Manager and Chief Accountant on accounting policy changes and technical points and general or ad hoc financial analyses as required. The role also oversees the team’s preparation and review of all other legal entity financial statements and facilitates involvement and interface with the Regulatory Reporting Team to help ensure reconciliation and analysis of Regulatory Reporting returns to thereby ensure consistency in all aspects of external reporting.The role also involves the following:• ensuring the team prepare and review compliant statutory accounts with no material misstatements;• ensuring that all statutory accounts filed by filing date with no fees or penalties incurred;• managing the relationship with the external auditors to complete audits for all entities;• being accountable for ensuring that there are regular reviews and ongoing maintenance of full documentation for all processes owned by the Statutory Reporting team; and• involvement in project activities as and when required.

Principal duties involved the production of the Clydesdale Bank PLC and National Australia Group Europe Limited year end financial statements and Clydesdale Bank PLC interim financial statements together with responsibility for supervisory oversight of the production of a portfolio of UK Group subsidiary companies accounts. Responsibilities also included creating and maintaining a robust control framework around the statutory reporting process so as to increase confidence of stakeholders in the financial statements.In addition, I conducted in-depth reviews of the relevant accounts and to demonstrate a sound understanding of and insight into the numbers so to ensure that any issues were identified and corrected in a timely and efficient manner.The role also included implementing accounting policy changes as advised by the Accounting Policy Manager and general or ad hoc financial analyses as required.
