I attended high school in Greensboro, NC at Western Guilford, Class of 1971; I spent my freshman year at Wake Forest University and then transferred to UNC-G in 1972. I worked as a Medical Technologist at Moses H. Cone Hospital and at North Carolina Memorial Hospital from 1976-1979; I was a Technologist III at NCMH in the Microbiology Laboratory. In 1979, I entered Medical School at UNC and graduated in 1983. In 1982, I married Stephen Bishop Miller. In 1983, I began my internship/residency at Moses H. Cone Hospital. In 1986, I entered active duty Air Force as a Captain at Moody AFB, GA. In 1989, I began my fellowship in Cardiology at UNC which I completed in 1992; I spent 10 years in private practice at Chapel Hill Internal Medicine where I practiced IM/Cardiology. In 2002, I returned to full time faculty at UNC Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiology where I am today. I am the Director of the Women's Heart Program and Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation program. My interest is in Primary and Seconcary Prevention as well as general cardiology.I have two children who are grown; Jackson is 29 and works as a Project Manager at Westat in Rockville, MD and Nate who is 26 and is a second year medical student at UNC.
