The Advisory Council works with the Executive Board of the ICB to promote professionalism and ensure ethical governance. The Council meets 4 times a year to advise the Board on strategic decisions and give a voice to every member of the ICB.

This was a nationwide courier and international freight forwarder. I was acting as a self employed bookkeeper and was asked to take over the Financial Director role which was a opportunity I decided to take. The company was in difficulties and needed to be turned around and the key to this was cost management as with tight margins profitability depended upon growing the income while keeping costs stable. It was also a forerunner in the home delivery market that is now commonplace and continues to trade today.

Account-Ability was my first bookkeeping practice, built to fit around having young children. I built a portfolio of SME's that fitted around my need to be Mum. I still have my business cards for this business and many fond memories of the clients I worked for. However, I was head hunted by one of these clients and became their Financial Director.

My career in bookkeeping and accounting started after I left Esso and worked in the charitable sector running the accounts department for Pioneer. The business experience I could bring to this role was invaluable and in the time I was here we updated many of the processes and systems to ensure the accounts function was streamlined which is always important to any charity.

My business career commenced when, straight from University, I was recruited by Esso Petroleum UK, a subsidiary of Exxon, onto their graduate management program. As a management trainee you were revolved around different roles to gain experience and insight. This experience gave me a sound understanding of good business practice which I use today to help small businesses grow.
