During the 20 years I have been working with youth and adults in mental health settings, schools, social service agencies, and in the wilderness, I have been honored to do this work. I focus on clients as unique and complete people: building on strengths and acknowledging challenges. Using an approach that is collaborative, curious, honest, playful, and celebratory, I strive to meet clients where they are at. My background in eco-psychology, rites of passage, experiential therapy, social work, and career counseling has taught me that we naturally find clarity and growth once challenges are understood and addressed. Compassion, perspective, connection, safety, and challenge are valuable tools. I have an affinity for working with teenagers, young adults, and adults in times of transitions. As an outdoor guide I have guided youth and adult wilderness trips with Rites of Passage, Inc., The School of Lost Borders (apprentice), Rite of Passage Journeys, the YMCA Boys Outdoor Leadership Development program and the Vashon Wilderness Program. I strive to bring authenticity, joy and wholeness in my work as a guide. I find that I thrive in compassionately supporting folks as they find that place where revelatory self-awareness meets connection to the world around them.I also offer career guidance services to young adults. In workshops, small groups, and individual counseling, I am able to connect with young people and engage them authentically in the process of learning how to develop professionally and personally.

Program CoordinatorYouth Soul Quest Dec 2010 - PresentThe Youth Soul Quest is a 3-day, nature-based rite of passage for young people 15 to 18. It is an opportunity to mark their transition from childhood and step into our community as the adults they want to be: to create the world they want to see. It is a time to listen and communicate from the heart, to spend a day in solitude on the land with the opportunity to fast, to sit in circle with others. It is a time to celebrate and to heal, a time to claim our gifts so that we may bring them to our families, our communities, and our world.

And a surprising number of adults will come on a Vision Quest for these same reasons, to mark a true initiation into adulthood, the meaning of which is not dependent on outside circumstances but must be recognized and claimed for oneself.
