I have been working in various communication roles at Emmanuel College in Georgia (www.ec.edu) since 1995.In June 2012, I began serving full time in a newly created position at our college as communication director (currently called public relations director). During that time, I continued to serve as internship coordinator for our communication students and still collaborated with senior projects and yearbook. As time allows, I teach courses in speech, business communication, public speaking, media writing, and multimedia communication. The course I have taught most is the intro to speech course. In May 2016, I was able to transition back to faculty full time when we hired our new public relations director. This was my choice with the season I am in with my growing children -- only get one shot at that, and it is important to me to give them my all! My teaching schedule is much more consistent with their school schedules. As a communication professor at EC since May 1995, I have enjoyed helping my students learn about media writing, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, multimedia & public speaking, business communication, professional interviewing, public relations, marketing, and similar topics. I like exploring the use of technology as an engaging learning tool, and I enjoy helping others.While serving as chair of our Communication Department from 2003-08, we were fortunate to receive a $100,000 grant that allowed us to add more video equipment and other technology in our courses. As communication director, I greatly expanded or created our social media presence and online engagement with admissions and alumni.
