About Paula Goncalves Romeu

I am a biotechnologist with a MSc. in Advanced Immunology currently working as a predoctoral student in the IGTP group of Respiratory Research, led by Raquel Guillamat, PhD. As a immunologist my scientific interests rely on translational medicine and the study of new biomarkers to identify and found new treatments for different diseases. I am very self-motivated, patient, organized and I am easy to work with.I have been trained in cell culture generation by viral transduction and maintenance, human lymphocytes isolation (using Ficoll and MACS procedures) and culturing, recombinant protein production (using Fed Batch system) and purification and as well as animal experimental procedures. I also used techniques such as ELISA, PCR, SDS-Page Electrophoresis, Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorter (FACS) and consequently FlowJo Cytometry analysis.

Use of bioinformatics tools for flow cytometry data analysis.Project developed at the group of Functional Cytomics led by Dr. Jordi Petriz. We applied bioinformatics tools to identify a fingerprint to discriminate between entities with phenotypic similarities. In particular, we used FlowJoTM Software to identify specific biomarkers from different leukaemia types. Additionally, we employed similar techniques to evaluate the performance of a new method to predict the success of PD-L1 immunotherapy.
