An articulate, enthusiastic and versatile software professional, with strong analytical and communication skills and more than thirty years of experience. I am passionate about software engineering processes and the role that open source software and communities are playing in their evolution. My current focus is on safety and the use of Linux and open source tools in the Automotive industry. I'm a member of the technical steering committee for the ELISA project (Enabling Linux in Safety Applications) and chair the Open Source Engineering Process (OSEP) working group. In previous roles I have specialised in Linux, Android and C/C++ development, leading teams, managing projects and designing solutions for middleware, platform integration and developer tools, working for customers in the Automotive, Mobile and Semiconductor sectors. My technology focus frequently revolved around networking and communications, with enjoyable forays into multimedia and security. My past experience included a decade working with Symbian OS and most of another decade working with banking systems and databases on Unisys mainframes. My commercial and managerial roles have focused on project management, technical proposal writing and new customer engagement, as well as consultancy, sales strategy and support. As a History & Politics graduate, my communication skills are unusually strong for a software specialist.
