The BiSC (Barcelona Life Study Cohort) Project is one of the largest studies to date focused on understanding the effects of air pollution on infant health and brain development. As a Research Technician, I have been responsible for maintaining regular follow-ups with volunteers, collecting data through surveys and interviews, and ensuring the accuracy of our large datasets through meticulous data cleaning and management. I have also organised and coordinated volunteer visits during which we have collected environmental data and conducted comprehensive health assessments.

During the second year of my Master's degree, I spent time in a research group where I wrote my final Master's thesis entitled: "Vitamin D status and impairment of immune response to specific infections during pregnancy in three European birth cohorts". I was involved in all phases of the scientific research process, including literature review, study design, statistical analysis, discussion of results and writing a scientific article.

During my stay at the Subdirecció General d'Addiccions, VIH, ITS i Hepatitis Víriques - Agència De Salut Pública De Catalunya (ASPCAT), I was actively involved in the Drug Observatory and the Hepatitis Team. I learned about the structure and functioning of the Observatory and participated in various tasks related to the monitoring and evaluation of drug use and addiction in Catalonia. The epidemiology team uses indicators to assess drug use and track consumption trends, which supports the development of evidence-based public health strategies.Additionally, I worked on the production of educational materials for hepatitis screening targeted at migrant populations. I conducted a literature review on hepatitis C incidence indicators as defined by the WHO, with the aim of adapting these measures to the local context. I also visited harm reduction centres and participated in workshops on hepatitis prevention.

As part of my Biomedical Sciences curriculum, I completed an internship in the BiSC project, where I conducted fieldwork and completed my dissertation entitled "Impact of Maternal Postpartum Depression on Child Behaviour" within the BiSC cohort. From July to September I extended my involvement through an extra-curricular internship, gaining further experience and contributing to the ongoing research of the project.
