I help my clients to make their organisations better places to work, so they can attract and retain the right talent to deliver their strategic objectives, and so that their employees have a positive lived experience at work. The research and consultancy I deliver, enables my clients to make strategic and policy decisions that ‘Put People First’. My evidence-based, pragmatic approach means that my work is underpinned by both robust research and relevant stakeholder input, and also takes account of business needs. My systems thinking approach, enables me to help my clients to examine the root causes of their People challenges, and to explore the different enablers and blockers for success with their People strategies and policies. My inquisitive mind, coupled with my continuous learning mindset, means that I keep up to date with recent research and practitioner developments. No project is ever the same, so I am highly experienced at quickly getting up to speed on projects. I am comfortable with the uncertainty of navigating a new work area, because I know I have always succeeded in building my understanding and delivering what is needed. My adaptability and responsiveness to change enables me to deliver effectively against changing client needs and to develop competence and confidence quickly in speaking to my clients in their own domain-specific language. For over 20 years I have worked with complex, high-stakes organisations, mostly in Defence and security. I typically work in fast-paced environments, under tight deadlines, frequently managing several projects concurrently, involving internal project teams, external suppliers, and multiple stakeholders. My excellent interpersonal and networking skills have allowed me to build long-standing relationships with my suppliers, partners, and clients. I am a Chartered Psychologist & Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society (BPS), a Registered Occupational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Since September 2023, I have been working towards a PhD (part time) with the University of Winchester, researching employer-supported volunteering.

Typically working in longer-term contract roles, I work with my clients to make their organisations great places to work, so that they can attract and retain the best people, and so their people feel engaged, empowered, motivated and competent. I do this by helping my clients to better understand the needs, experiences, behaviours and attitudes of their people, and how these can be affected by existing day-to-day policies and practices, and also by organisational changes. I generate the evidence to support my HR clients with the development of People policies and strategies. By conducting applied qualitative and quantitative organisational research and targeted literature reviews, I enable my clients to adopt an evidence-based Human Resource Management approach.Sept 2021 - Present: Principal Occupational Psychologist, Civil ServiceApril 2019 - July 2021: Senior Occupational Psychologist, Civil ServiceSeptember 2018 - April 2019: Senior Occupational Psychologist, Civil Service Show less
