SOCIOBIODIVERSITY products enhancement (Brazil nuts and bio jewelry from Açai and Babaçu), Women´s empowerment; - Poverty reduction through the development of income generation alternatives for riverside communities, based in sustainable ways of land use and trading non timber standing forest products. Support the articulation and training for the installation of a mini-industry in the forest for the processing of Brazil nuts and distribution of production within communities along the Madeira River in the Resex do Lago do Cuniã, Esex do Cuniã, Flona Jacundá, in northern Rondonia. The replication of the successful model was carried out in the Resex of Anfrisio and Iriri in Terra do Meio, in Pará (Xingu) with the support of the NGO Instituto Socioambiental (ISA). Women´s empowerment through income generation: Organization of local community´s workshops for collecting and handmaking handcrafts (biojóia) from Açai´s seeds, babaçu´s coconut; Articulation of the purchase and donation of small machinery for women's use -Building capacity in undergraduate students (since social policy, law health and engineering). Paula trained the students to develop effective and useful academic projects for the empowerment of local communities in various ways: foster community participation in decision making about use of their natural resources, fostering strengthening of transparency and governance of the natural resources used (collectively however in state territory). I worked with the fulfillment of the right to health in isolated communities and -Within the group of social science students, organization of capacity building sessions to local community associations on (i) the possibilities of fulfilment of the free prior informed consent (through community protocols) in relation to the new governmental plans to establish two hydroelectric plants (Santo Antonio and Jirau) blocking the River Madeira for which the communities are dependent and (ii) climate change impacts, REDD+.

English summary: Responsible for consultation with civil society and assisting the Programme with stakeholder engagement and outreach in the Latin American and Caribbean region about REDD National programmes. Sitting on the Policy Board, helped to establish the rules for governance and socio & environmental safeguards of the United Nations Programme for Reducing Emissions of Deforestation and Degradation programme (UN REDD). Elected globally as the Latin America & Caribbean representative of the civil society during a two months period.Major achievements:Establishment of a virtual interactive platform to foster discussion, participation, disclose UNREDD documents, coordination of informational workshops and capacity building sections, creation of a strong Latin America and Caribbean network. Establishment of a working partnership with COICA, the indigenous Amazon basin elected entity for the policy board. Vast lessons learnt with the other continental civil society and Indigenous Peoples representatives, UN officials, country representatives and technical experts. Book published on lessons learnt on the policy board experience.Reason for leaving:Entered in the first place in the PhD fellowship in the end of 2010, awarded with federal government scholarship. Responsável por consultar e arguir as demandas e opiniões da sociedade civil sobre programas nacionais de REDD.
