Manager, Cyberfraud NabcertNational Australia Bank Feb 2013 - Jul 2015Melbourne, Victoria, AuI was asked to create a new team and develop NAB’s Cybercrime capabilities within the customer space, this quickly expanded to their subsidiaries including uBank, nabTrade and BNZ. The key parts of my role were to quickly build strong relationships with all stakeholders, close the split between teams and deliver new innovation controls to keep the bank and its customers safe. These new innovations were predominantly new big data, visualisation and machine learning technologies that have enabled NAB to identify and protect customers from malware and phishing compromises. I also recruited staff and ran an operational team to work through alerts and build new detection rules for new malware and phishing campaigns. With the upcoming advent of the "New Payments Platform" I helped drive an initiative to automate the manual process of protecting customers detected to be compromised through our big data solution to greatly reduce online banking fraud on multiple business channels.Part of the nabCERT Virtual Incident Management team and coordinating major incidents using the Killchain process in both CyberFraud and Security. I successfully managed the coordination and communications of NAB’s response to Shellshock as well as those to a number of major attacks on Retail and Business banking. The most significant of which was the relentless attack on business banking by Dyre.Responsibilities:▪ Manage the operational Cyberfraud team which manages malware and phishing detection across NAB retail and business online banking, uBank, Nabtrade, BNZ retail and business banking.▪ Analysis of malware, phishing and discovery of the indicators of compromise.▪ Risk Management across nabCERT teams for Cybercrime, Intelligence, Security Awareness and working close across various Digital channels operational risk teams. ▪ Creating briefings and reports on Cybercrime to various stakeholders including those presented to the board -
