Mayflower Vehicle Systems a $325M company with +500 people who produce complete truck cabs for the commercial vehicle sector and niche vehicles with full-service engineering, sales and development capabilities located in Farmington Hills, MI. Products include body structures / assemblies, sleeper boxes and other structural components. Mayflower maintained manufacturing operations in Norwalk and Shadyside, Ohio, and Kings Mountain, N.C., Overall management of full-service engineering, plant engineering teams at stamping & assembly sites. Development of business opportunities with new and existing customers with direct interface on quotes and presentation thereof. Managing programs using APQP phase gates through to launch + 90 days. Identify and execute cost reduction - VA/VE. Direct product/process design influence using lightweight materials including aluminum/composites, FEA, identify and improve system gaps including engineering change and estimating. Accomplishments• Successful negotiation to win Ford advanced engineering project to Design, develop, prototype and test lightweight panoramic roof system.• Provided engineering resources for the development of the BIW structure and closures for the Tesla model S.• Successful negotiation to win Caterpillar advanced engineering project to design, develop, prototype, test and run series production for the CAT E53 exterior door program.• Increased responsibility to manage customer quality for structure and trim groups. Relocated back to Michigan to generate project opportunities within the automotive and truck sector to support global company strategy to increase manufacturing capabilities. In 2001 we participated in the early stages of the Ford GT Supercar development and in 2002 were awarded the design and manufacture of the aluminum body structure, integration of all the sub systems, FEA and prototypes. This was a 23-month program from concept to product and limited volume over 2 years.
