Regional Director
2001-2006: Regional Director (Regional Office for South America, Quito Ecuador/Regional Office for Latin America, Panama City, Panama): As Regional Director I had the final responsibility for the planning and implementation of Plan programs in countries of South/Latin America and the Caribbean supervising the Country Directors and their teams. I represented Plan at the regional level in contacts with governmental, multilateral and civil society organizations. As Regional Director I led a regional team which provided technical assistance and facilitated organizational learning in the areas of Program, HRD, IT, Communications/PR, Resource Mobilization and Administration/Finance. As Regional Director I was part of the Global Management Team of the organization and led the Regional Management Team.Countries: Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Perú, Paraguay, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Haiti, Republica DominicanaNumber of Staff Region: Aprox. 800-1’500. Regional Office:: 20-25Annual Budget Region: US $ 40-100 Million (6-12 countries) Regional Office: US $ 1.5-2 millionMain Achievements: - Successful merger of the regions of South and Central America and the establishment of a new regional office in Panama.- Development of regional strategic framework for Plan’s programs in South America.- Review of the Country Strategic Plans to reinforce a Child Centred Community development approach and develop new areas like Advocacy on the Rights of the Child, Development Education and local Resource Mobilization and fundraising.- Significant contribution for the revision of Plan’s global strategic directions.
