I am currently working in several areas spanning quantum technology. I am using Ultra-precision machining and micromilling to fabricate bespoke components for research and industry partners. Ductile machining allows fabrication of optical components with nanometer surface roughness, without the need for polishing.I am also utilising the bespoke deep UV writing equipment to develop optical grating structures in glass for light control and coupling.Other responsibilities include cleanroom work; fabrication of devices through processes such as photolithography, deposition and etching, as well as FHD and consolidation of glasses in a furnace. Laboratory work includes; optical characterisation of samples, use of laser systems, optical fibre assemblies, machining, and computer modelling.

Generally my work involves the alignment and use of optical setups, lasers and fibre components.

Pgraduate researcher for the Terahertz group at the University of Southampton. I am working on setting up a quantum cascade laser (QCL) project at the University in collaboration with Cambridge University. The project is funded by an EPSRC grant through Dr. Vasilis Apostolopoulos (principle investigator). I also work with outreach officer Pearl John on the Light Express Show; an outreach activity involving laser and physics demonstrations.
