About Paul Comfort

Leading at Modaxo as the SVP & Chief Customer Officer, my mission is to enhance global urban mobility through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions. My role encompasses connecting transit leaders worldwide, showcasing thought leadership via the Transit Unplugged platform, and advocating for advanced public transportation practices. With a focus on improving mobility through my six best selling books, keynote speaking and live CEO Roundtables, my efforts are contributing to pioneering mobility solutions that resonate across the globe.In parallel, teaching at Villanova University allows me to share my expertise in public transportation systems, directly impacting the next generation of leaders in the field. Additionally directed funding and oversight to all 24 Maryland jurisdictions' Locally Operated Transit Systems and short line freight rail tracks throughout the state.Significant achievements include:- The development of the nation's largest current Public Private Partnership (P3) project, the Purple Line - a $5.2 billion, 30 year concessionaire contract, 16.2 mile light rail line connecting the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC to WMATA's Metrorail system. - The opening and operations of the $34.8 million Takoma-Langley Crossroads Transit Center, the largest non-WMATA Metrorail station public transit transfer point in the Washington DC area. - Winning a $27 million federal Tiger Grant for the MTA North Avenue Rising Project to bring a combination of transit technologies to a five mile stretch of MTA's core Baltimore City service area.- Leading the development of the $30+ million federally funded Environmental Impact and Alignment Study for a new Mag Lev high speed train line between Washington DC and Baltimore. - Development of the Baltimore Link transit redevelopment plan for Baltimore. Key elements include a complete rerouting of the entire bus network, adding new Express Link service for suburb to suburb transit, adding a new high frequency color coded service "City Link" on 12 key corridors, connecting to each other, Light Rail and Metro Subway, implementation of five miles of bus only lanes on downtown streets in Baltimore, construction of transit hubs with bike and car share and real time signage, installation of Transit Signal Priority on buses and key intersections & a cohesive rebranding of the system and 5,000 new bus stop signs.
