I am a pilot. We are BALPA.I am the Executive President of the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA), the union and professional association for pilots in the UK. I have over 30 years of experience as a pilot and a representative, and I hold an Airline Transport Pilots Licence and an Air Traffic Controllers Licence.The BALPA mission is to protect the piloting profession and ensure flight safety remains an industry-wide priority. I lead a community of 10,000 members, elected pilot representatives, and pilot volunteers, who work together to lobby government, negotiate with employers, and collaborate with regulators. I also offer networking, industrial, legal, employment, and personal support to assist members through every stage of their career. I am passionate about piloting and committed to keeping safety at the heart of all we do.

The Scottish Gliding Union was (and still is) the largest gliding club in Scotland. It provided year round flying training and facillities for visiting glider pilots. I was director responsible for membership facilities, PR and marketing. I developed a new membership system to encourage members from further afield to join the club and also a family membership. As part of a team I was able to contribute to changes which modified the club and laid in place foundations for the current modern and efficient operation.
