Built Jotengine, a service that transcribes audio using AI + humans, with the goal of being cheap and fast enough to transcribe everything.

Web development contract work for early stage startups, often as the 1st technical contributor. I can serve as if I were an additional technical founder, so the actual founders can focus on fundraising, recruiting, and talking to users. I understand what it's like at the beginning, and provide all of my early stage startup experience, applying tips and tricks I've learned along the way to get new teams going from idea to growth.Large focus on technical decision making, as early stage projects have limited resources and lots to decide. Choosing the right tools and prioritizing the right features can make all the difference. Some specific areas I've helped with:- Balancing development speed vs technical debt- Cutting scope aggressively to get features shipped fast- Iterating effectively to find product-market fit- Enabling simple on-boarding of future team members- Lowering DevOps costs while maintaining reliability and uptime

Lead the development of an open source project to make live ocean audio accessible to the public and use citizen science to monitor endangered species. As the first developer on the project, built the foundation to grow it to 100+ active members and 10+ technical contributors.

Joined as first engineering hire. Built a platform for companies to let their employees to sell equity in secondary transactions (tender offers & individual sales). Being early stage in a team of 3, my responsibilities ranged far beyond engineering:- Built custom document templating and signing- Designed and built external APIs for partnerships- Created tools for employees to estimate the value of their equity- Private company valuation modeling using market data- Auction theory and mechanism design- Deep understanding of equity grants, taxation, security regulations- Worked directly with lawyers extensively- Ran a successful secondary round- Received regulatory approval for the platform (FINRA broker-dealer)

Full-time contract. Took ownership of frontend development while the founders went through Y Combinator, getting them to the stage where they were able to raise and recruit.

Tapin.tv was a video streaming app focused on citizen journalism. We started it as college students and received funding to work on it full-time as part of Y Combinator Summer 2012. I did the backend video streaming, but towards the end we were pivoting to a group video communication app and I ended up many things, including frontend design work.Later on the product evolved into Framebase.io, an API for easily adding video uploading, recording, and playback to any website.Also dealt with raising a seed round, managing finances, and other administrative responsibilities.
