I focus my practice on what I refer to as Keeping the Farm in the Family, Values First Estate Planning, and Exit Planning for business owners. Although I practice primarily in the areas of estate planning and estate and trust administration, I also represent clients in business and real estate transactions.ESTATE PLANNING AND ADMINISTRATION: I assist clients in developing estate plans for the orderly and economical transfer of accumulated wealth and agricultural or other business interests to family members both during life and at death. This may include the use of a wide variety of documents and techniques such as wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, limited liability companies and family limited partnerships, irrevocable life insurance trusts, conservation easements, charitable remainder trusts and various gifting and transfer plans. I assist fiduciaries, such as executors and trustees, in the administration of probate estates and trusts. This includes the preparation of Federal Estate Tax Returns and trust and estate income returns, advising in the use of tax savings techniques such as qualified disclaimers and assisting in the transfer of estate and trust assets.SUCCESSION PLANNING FOR SMALL BUSINESSES: I advise small business owners on issues involving estate planning and administration, succession planning, business structure and real estate transactions. SUCCESSION PLANNING FOR FAMILY FARMS: I advise family farm clients on the unique issues faced in agricultural estate and succession planning as well as proper business structure and the buying and selling of farm land.BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS AND FORMATIONS: I advise clients in the formation of business entities such as partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies, as well as transactions involving the acquisition or sale of business assets or interests.REAL ESTATE: I represent clients, both individual and corporate, in all phases of residential and corporate real estate transactions.
