I am in full time practise as a barrister in NSW. After 17 years at Edmund Barton Chambers I moved to Queen's Square Chambers (at 235 Macquarie Street) in December 2023.Alternative dispute resolution (and mediation in particular) is a growing part of what I do. I am committed to the principles of interest based negotiation. I have a masters degree in dispute resolution from UNSW and I am NMAS accredited. I am also an arbitrator (accredited by both the NSW Bar Association and the Resolution Institute). I am a panel member of Immediation (an innovative online mediation platform). Until de-regulation of the migration advice profession in March 2021, I was a registered migration agent for 20 years (to the day!). I can help you with your visa applications, but I prefer to bring my skills to bear when visas are refused or cancelled or when clients receive natural justice letters about proposed cancellations or refusals. I can assist in the drafting of submissions and can appear in both merits review in the AAT and judicial review in the courts.I also maintain a busy commercial practice which means that apart from my specialities of bankruptcy and insolvency law I assist clients with “disputes about money” in most jurisdictions. This includes family and succession law. Crime is a small (but growing) part of my practice. I don't do any personal injury work.I understand that legal practice is rapidly changing. As well as traditional advocacy, I do my best to offer advice, unbundled services and to negotiate flexible arrangements in respect of fees. I am a member of the NSW Bar Association, the Migration Institute of Australia, the Resolution Institute and the Australian Facilitator's Network.I write A Barrister's Blog (about the “lighter side of law”) to keep in touch with my network.
