I serve as media liaison and staff writer for the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, promoting faculty, student and alumni advancements in quantum engineering, biotechnology and immunoengineering, advanced materials, energy storage, and ensuring a clean global water supply, in addition to PME's collaborative arts and technology program. In this role, I work closely with communications colleagues across the University and with UChicago Central Media Relations.

Coordinating media outreach and communications on renewable energy and climate change issues across a nine-state region, this position requires fast response to breaking developments while managing ongoing communications strategies. Close collaboration with owned and social media teams to craft both public-facing and internal messaging is required, as is keeping up to date on best communication practices and platforms. The Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC) is the Midwest’s leading public interest environmental legal advocacy organization. We develop and lead strategic environmental advocacy campaigns to protect our natural resources and improve environmental quality.

The Chicago Corruption Walking Tour was an experiment in live journalism, taking the willing through two centuries of shady politics and dirty deals. From a luxury department store gifted millions from an antipoverty program to political maps gerrymandered so tightly you can see four districts from one street corner, the tour focused on the social costs of political misdeeds. As part of this commitment to social justice and public education, half each year’s gratuities went to a different Chicago-area journalism nonprofit, including City Bureau, ProPublica Illinois and The TRiiBE.

I headed production of this award-winning monthly trade publication covering Illinois' legal community, including managing staff and freelance reporters, photographers, illustrators and designers. I was also the public face of the magazine, managing social media outreach and maintaining in-person relationships with the legal community, from Big Law to in-house, private practice to pro bono.

Duties included editing freelancer-produced stories for trade publication covering Illinois' legal community and managing online Leading Lawyers Network database. A division of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.
