Transgrid is the high voltage electricity transmission provider for NSW. The Operational Technology environment primarily encompasses the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system which is the key platform for monitoring and controlling the high voltage electricity network. This is classed as national critical infrastructure and as such has availability and security requirements to reflect this.April2013 to Present:Joined Transgrid as Operational Technology ManagerPrimary Duties:• Management of a team of subject matter experts in charge of the SCADA environment which controls the state’s electricity system.• Project Director for the SCADA replacement project.• Senior level liaison with SCADA vendor management• Develop strategies for the use and deployment of operational technology within Transgrid.Accomplishments:• Turned the SCADA/EMS replacement project around from a project which was two years late and suffering multiple technical and management issues into a project which was commisioned seamlessly into service with no impact on critical services. This was through identification of distinct problems, both internally and externally, and clear articulation of the issues and remediation strategies to management. The turnaround strategy involved delicate vendor management, including financial negotiations, to repair relationships fractured by the troubled nature of the project. It also included strategic use of external resourcing to complement internal resources.

Operations Manager for our 24*7 Network Operations Centre.• Management of an operational team including 24*7 shift operators, network performance engineering, IT and administration.• Responsible for maximising network availability and providing operational support of DDA’s telecommunications network in Australia.• Responsible for network performance management• Development and implementation of various network management tools including the capacity management system, network performance monitoring, and other mission critical systems.• Manage and control service affecting incidents to ensure swift service restoration and design strategies to prevent future service affecting outages.
