Responsible for planning and strategy, key account management, business development, new business acquisition, media planning and buying, copywriting, creative collaboration, supplier management, profitability, making the tea… We’re a relatively small team at Summerhouse, which gives me the perfect opportunity to draw on my experience and work across a wide variety of disciplines.

Responsible for maintaining and developing client relationships, business development, detailed financial forecasting, account planning and strategy, management of account teams and creative resources, management of external resources and processes including media agencies, TV production houses, photographers, model agencies etc. When the Agency was granted IPA membership in 2007 I was the only individual member of the IPA on the team (MIPA), having been a member since 1994.

I was recruited to manage key clients in the travel and tourism sectors. I was responsible for all aspects of account management including planning and strategy. At RLA, I worked on Volkswagen Dealer Accessories, Unigate Dairies, Friends Provident and others including the Southern Rover Dealers network for the launch of the MGF. In addition to account management I was responsible for media planning and buying for key accounts. During my time at RLA, I was elected a personal member of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (MIPA).

I was the fifth person to join USP, not long after their inception. By the time I left, the company had grown to 30 staff and had become a PLC. As Production Manager I was responsible for managing the creative team, plus our large network of suppliers and freelance designers. I managed many large catalogue projects which were printed and distributed across Europe. I also planned and managed complex photo shoots, often in a marine environment.

As Studio Manager I was responsible for managing the creative team, plus a network of freelancers including designers, illustrators and photographers.

After a successful work experience placement at the agency, I was offered a formal two year advertising apprenticeship. During this period I worked in each Agency department and shadowed a mentor. After I'd completed this, I worked in various departments around the Agency including as a media assistant and a production assistant. I also worked in the studio, where I learned how to use an AGFA Repromaster camera and acquired a taste for cow gum!
