  • Metcash
    Retail Business Manager
    Metcash Nov 2018 - Sep 2019
    Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
In my role as the SA lead on the project-focused national team, we aimed to pilot a new independent small-format concept. This concept involved a comprehensive review of pricing, product range, store layout, branding, and catalogue to create small grocery stores offering competitive prices, healthier choices and a better overall shopping experience.I was responsible for identifying potential retailers and presenting the project's objectives to them, securing their commitment to the 13-week trial. In collaboration we assessed store suitability based on layout, pricing, product range, trading patterns, customer base, and demographics.I presented the final list of project stores from which we set a trial commencement date, and ensured the timely execution of activities within the established timeline. Working as a team regular meetings were held to monitor state-based tasks, budget compliance, and schedule adherence, collaborating with the national support team to keep their tasks on track. An integral part of the project was the rebranding of the stores, encompassing tasks such as painting and a complete update of the brand kit. I took on the responsibility of working with suppliers and retailers to achieve these objectives within the allocated budget.I represented the project at SA Committee meetings, providing updates on progress and store performance against key metrics such as increased sales and bankable dollars. I also represented the project at the NRG, presenting and providing updates.A significant change I drove was the reshaping of the small format catalogue, emphasizing fresh and meal solutions and promoting local producers to align with the "Proudly Local" theme. This required collaboration with state buying and promotional teams to enhance the range and promotional program to meet shopper expectations.Project stores outperformed baseline stores, and the work laid the foundation for small format stores in the Network of the Future.
