Celebrating 25 years in the LiDAR Community! An early exposure to 3D design set my career on a certain trajectory. Being involved in CADD fueled my interest in building 3D models to support the design and construction of our infrastructure. As 3D design tools progressed, the survey data collected at the time was sparse and simply could not support the design tools. Along comes LiDAR, which I saw in 1999 while at Bentley. The Cyrax 2500 was unveiled to us. A quarter century later, we are seeing just incredible advancements. Mobile LiDAR and UAV LiDAR have changed the way we survey large infrastructure. I am thrilled to work in such a vibrant industry that, by its very nature, allows us to do so much rich data collection - safely and economically.
