End 2012 summary...So colleagues and friends it is time for an update. I am finishing up full-time employment with the AITD at the end of the year. By year end I will have been running our association for just over 5 years. We have a lot to celebrate.• 33% increase in membership since 2007 - we currently have the highest level of membership in 17 years!• 52% increase in annual revenue• Year on year (significant) surpluses that leaves the association with an extremely healthy balance sheet and enviable cash position (weathering and growing during the GFC and ongoing economic uncertainty)• Introduction of new services at no additional cost to members• Diversified the business to less reliance on one revenue line• Moved member transactions online (2007: 55 online member transactions. 2011/2012: 3800+ online member transactions)• Significant improvements to our bi-monthly magazine including rebranding to Training & Development and the publication being adopted by the NZATD as their official publication.This was achieved with 2 full time staff members and moved to 3 full time staff members from 2010 plus a contract accounts person - busy and productive times.I leave our association in safe hands and have every confidence they will consolidate and build on the success. We have begun some big, proactive projects this year including some significant research with the Uni of Ballarat to explore the professional development needs of the Australian L&D community. Essential research that will help inform the future of AITD.As like many of you, I have a second and even a third career that needs exploring. If you google "P. Crumble" you will see that having a load of nonsense in your head can actually be translated into a means of making a living. Onwards!
