Because of my own experience as a student and what vocational education did for me, I am passionate about the Further Education and Skills Sector and it’s ability to transform lives. I have 37 years experience in the sector, I am a well informed, decisive, high energy and effective leader with a successful track record recognised throughout the FE & Skills Sector. I have operated in strategic senior roles within Skills Providers, FE & Skills Membership Bodies and Awarding Organisations. I began my FE & Skills Career as a hospitality lecture in Further Education Colleges, having had senior roles within the Hospitality Industry before moving into FE. I have senior leadership experience in apprenticeship providers. I am an experienced Chief Executive, leading complex organisations and groups of organisations. I am someone who works well under pressure. I have a track record of leading effective change management; leading complex acquisition and merger negotiations, commissioning options reviews and managing senior executive management teams. I am a good communicator, who is able to strategically implement vision with passion.

During 2007/2008 I led on Self Regulation, spending time seconded part time to the Self Regulation Project Team. I led on policy responses in all of my areas of responsibility for AELP as they occurred. These included a response on the Specification for Apprenticeship Standards in England, AELP’s response to "A New National Improvement Strategy for the Learning and Skills Sector", AELP’s final response to the Ofsted Consultation on their proposed changes to the inspection arrangements from September 2009. All of these responsibilities within AELP led me to attend and represent our members at high level strategic meetings and participate in a wide range of boards, advisory and working groups across the FE System. -

Managing DirectorInnterskill Jan 1997 - Jul 2003Innterskill was a Licensed Hospitality Training company, which held 10 LSC contracts in London, the South East, Home Counties and Midlands. Innterskill delivered Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships and had a number of commercial training contracts. Innterskill employed 30 people. Key Responsibilities Strategic planning, operational management, quality assurance (self-assessment & review) senior management and board line management, equal opportunities, business excellence and financial management. I developed links with hospitality associations and companies to promote Innterskill. As part of this I worked with the BII (British Institute of Innkeeping) to develop student membership for Modern Apprenticeship learners in order that their skills gained professional recognition. I became chair of two provider associations and worked closely with Hertfordshire LSC on their 16-19 review. I undertook consultancy with a number of providers on self - assessment and worked with Berkshire LSC to train providers on the inspection requirements of Leadership and Management and Equal Opportunities within the Common Inspection Framework.

During my time with the Kudos Group I had overall responsibility for the NVQ framework within the organisation, training and developing the people within the company to deliver and assess NVQs.
