Throughout my career I have provided close counsel to Boards, CEOs, Federal Ministers and Senior Officials on navigating successfully through the challenges presented by global operations, diverse markets, complex regulation, multiple stakeholder groups and competing value-systems. This has included both long-term strategic repositioning and the successful delivery of distinct commercial projects. My current responsibilities at Orica are expansive and fluid and have recently expanded to include leadership of Orica's working group and governance panel for investments in clean hydrogen and ammonia production. The current focus is on progressing the Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub initiative with our JV partner, Origin Energy and the Port of Newcastle. More broadly, I advise the Orica Board and Executive on strategic risks, scenario planning, macro-economic policy and geo-political trends. I lead a great team of functional government and sustainability experts on material regulatory and reputational issues and the company’s engagement with parliamentarians, regulators, officials, NGOs, the diplomatic corps and security agencies across the globe. I am very pleased to have stewarded significant transformation to Orica’s commitments to address material sustainability risks and, in particular, reduce scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions. This includes securing long-term capital to deploy carbon abatement across Orica’s major manufacturing sites and the setting of mid and long-term emissions reduction goals consistent with international climate targets and internal ROI hurdles. Orica's next challenge lies with transitioning into green hydrogen and ammonia. My responsibilities also include Orica’s global Property function and the divestment of significant land assets. Before joining Orica, I was CEO of the Winemakers' Federation of Australia and have held a number of senior private sector positions in corporate communications, government affairs and sustainability. In my early career, I was a civilian adviser in the Australian Department of Defence and enjoyed several senior secondments to the Ministerial offices of successive Defence Ministers.
