I am a RIAS + RIBA registered Architect with expert knowledge of all construction phases from inception to completion including projects for residential, public, healthcare and commercial clients. I have an intimate understanding of building regulations and substantial experience of construction projects from individual dwelling commissions through to multi-unit urban infill development and a track record of developing site-specific sustainable solutions and achieving low carbon strategies on hard to treat buildings such as tenements and refurbishment projects. As a Certified Passive House Designer I am passionate about fuel conservation and reducing running costs. I have completed a three-year ‘Healthy Housing’ study in partnership with Irvine HA developing advanced knowledge of low energy performance and moisture control within dwellings focused on minimising CO2 emissions and improving internal air quality through planned ventilation strategies and sustainable material selection. I am currently undertaking a Doctorate at the University of Strathclyde with research concentrated on 'Optimising the Conflict between Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality'. This includes the design, construction and monitoring of low energy dwellings to demonstrate both mechanical and natural planned ventilation strategies that provide optimum levels of indoor air quality for housing developments. Recent collaborations with the Mackintosh Environmental Architecture Research Unit include publications for CIBSE Journal and the Scottish Government Building Standards Division.I have extensive landscape design, public realm and environmental improvement experience and have led design teams through many successful and sustainable projects including parks, play areas and backcourts. With multiple completed projects for both public and commercial clients my work has been recognised with projects receiving BALI award nominations in recent years.
