I managed the monthly and quarterly external financial reporting process for a $1.7 billion multifamily real estate portfolio. This included financial statement preparation, handling external audits, answering questions from institutional investors and senior management. I cultivated relationships with investors, lenders, lawyers, on-site property management and senior management.I streamlined business processes to automate repetitive tasks and minimize human data input – process improvements reduced the need for one full-time designated accountant.I re-engineered the month-end financial reporting process, resulting in the reduction of the reporting period by 5 business days without impacting quality.I designed and implemented the first CFE exam prep for Venterra, resulting in a 100% pass rate.

I spearheaded the audit of a major Canadian franchise undergoing a multi-million dollar public acquisition.I was responsible for taking ownership of audit engagement projects from cradle to grave. This involved audit planning, face to face discussions with clients, training junior staff, preparing documentation and reporting. I was lucky enough to have a broad experience at Deloitte, servicing small private organizations, large publicly traded companies, and everything in between.In addition to normal responsibilities, I actively market Deloitte through marketing and networking events within Southwestern Ontario.
