The Square Kilometre Array project will design and build the largest radio telescope ever built, producing images orders of magnitude better than existing telescopes.The project is run out of Jodrell Bank near Manchester in the UK, already the home to the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world.As IT Manager, I look after the infrastructure, computing and networking for the HQ, cloud collaboration tools for the many scientists and engineers working globally on the SKA, as well as the links to the numerous universities around the globe involved in the project.In addition to hands-on IT stuff, I also write or contribute to numerous strategies, policies and processes. I'm also building up the strategic view of the IT for the SKA Observatory, the worldwide organisation that will operate and maintain the completed Telescope.
