As of September the PharmaFluidics management team has been extended to prepare for the next exciting phase in which I will take up the role of COO.

As General Manager from 2014-16, I built PharmaFluidics into a well-funded, well-focused company with a product range ready for commercial launch.

Together with three great colleagues from VUB we founded PharmaFluidics BVBA to valorize our expertise and knowledge in microtechnology and microfluidics for life-sciences, pharma and fine chemical industry.End of 2013, beginning of 2014 PharmaFluidics was ready for a next step and attracted financing parties to focus on introduction of an innovative technology for nano liquid chromatography.

I acted as a key expert in multiparameter diagnostic technology, instrumentation and specialty manufacturing techniques, and as such held a series of positions from Research Engineer over Group Manager Technology Integration to end as Principal Researcher Technology. My key accountabilities have always been the leveraging of Innogenetics multiparameter assays using new technologies for detection, multiplexing and manufacturing. As such I have been actively involved in the development of an innovative proprietary sensor-array for electronic detection of DNA-hybridization, integration of sample-preparation with real-time fluorescence PCR, and the development of a flow-through microarray platform with its accompanying read-out and fluidics processing instrument and manufacturing equipment.

As a specialist in chemical- and biosensor technology, I was responsible for the exploration of new programmes for chemical sensors based on the company's core technological strenghts in zirconium-based processes. Together with a colleague engineer we first focused on gas sensors for combustion control in automotive and central heating systems.

I joined the newly established research-group on biosensors at ESAT-Micas (Electrotechnical Department), headed by Prof. Willy Sansen. My main interest was research on planar, non-voltammetric electronic sensors for medical, agricultural and food applications. As part of my academic task I assisted in teaching bachelors in Agricultural Engineering the basics in Analog Electronics leading both theoretical and practical sessions. For the post-graduate course I was responsible for the programme on Chemical Sensors for Medical Applications.
