I started Getextra in 2007, just as digital marketing took off in the UK. Working hard to deliver a transparent and performance-driven service for our clients, I was handpicked by Google in 2018 to attend their exclusive elevator scheme (invitation only 6month workshop for 30 UK agencies) As a chartered marketeer, my focus has always been on marketing rather than tech and discovering how the latest technology would help improve a marketing campaign or measure its performance more effectively. Why is Getextra different? Over the last few decades, I have developed my marketing skills and delivered outstanding results for our clients. CIM has also recognised me and awarded me a fellowship, and the University of Hull asked me to develop and deliver their digital marketing strategy module for the MSc students in 2023.

I was asked to join a local marketing agency to develop their online offering, focusing attention on SEO, sponsored search and email marketing.I worked directly with the MD and Director of Digital to create digital strategies for existing clients and support pitches for new accounts. During my short time at Strawberry I acquired personal and corporate accreditation and developed a strong client base.

I worked closely with the HR manager to develop the marketing function within HUU, creating a marketing team to support commercial and charitable elements of the organisation. Notable achievements include:• Increasing awareness and the use of facilities to non traditional members.• Improving Welcome Week activities increasing participation by over 100% and income from £12,000 to £126,000.• Developing relationships with key partners and securing a sponsorship agreement of £135,000 over three years.• Implementation of HUU brand providing a clear understanding of departmental and organisational values throughout campus.• Improved creative material produced in house for official publications and marketing materials

This was my experience of employment (outside the family business) at the ripe old age of 18 I had lots to learn and a combination of Rob Coates, Jon McArthur and Martin Dean training got me through.Working for a small marketing organisation provided me with a wealth of practical experience. I was the project manager for Hull Vikings Speedway and Hull City AFC accounts and worked closely with the Dove House Hospice, increasing awareness and generating income via sponsorship and fundraising.
