This included working with OpenGIS standards in the delivery of the products.Development of a Microsoft Access database for Maroochy Shire Council to track GIS Requests.Development of a MapInfo application for Huefner Management Solutions to link an existing asset management system to MapInfo.Teaching at TAFE NSW in CAD to GIS transformation methods. Rectification of Water and Sewer plans in ArcGIS to allow Quirindi Shire Councils staff to capture initial asset locations into MapInfo. Provision of training and customised MapInfo tools to allow accurate asset positioning from field inspection information.Development of MapInfo ecological modeling software for the assessment of suitable lands for industrial development in the Hunter Employment Zone.Installation of Encounter (MapExtreme Java) for Muswellbrook Shire Council. The installation included Apache and Tomcat web service configuration, data optimization, user interface customization, documentation of system modifications and training.Review of Quirindi Shire Council’s use of EasiMaps to prepare a training manual on data maintenance processes specific to Council’s user skill levels. As part of this process MapInfo applications were developed using MapBasic to deliver CAD-like tools to the MapInfo user interface.A spatial adjustment program to automatically re-align cadastral related datasets to a new more accurate cadastral base was also developed in MapBasic and Delphi as part of this project. The CAD-like tools also included an offset capability where the user is able to offset asset features such as water and sewer assets from property boundaries.Customisation of EasiMaps and EasiEnquirer GIS software to link to Singleton Shire Council’s corporate rates and property databases.

Development of ArcGIS 8.1 VBA applications to assist in the cleansing process. Such applications included advanced cadastral snapping, grid generation and user friendly attribute editing utilities.Perform the cadastral shift of Council’s datasets from the old Digital Cadastral Database to Council’s new Mathematical Cadastral Database. This included the development of the applications to generate the shift vectors, statistical analysis of shift magnitudes, and automated processes to adjust Council’s remaining cadastral related datasets.

Modelling of land contours and aircraft flight levels around Cessnock City Council’s airport to identify locations that impede the minimum flight level of aircraft, or areas that may impede the flight level if a building or structure was erected. The modelling was performed using MapInfo with Vertical Mapper for 3D analysis.Provide GIS strategies for the successful implementation of Geographical Information Systems for numerous NSW Local Government Authorities – Muswellbrook, Scone and Cessnock Councils to name a few. The underlying premise in the development of these plans has my ability to analyse Councils user requirements to provide cost-justifiable solutions that maximise the use of prevailing technologies.Data conversion from most of the major GIS/CAD packages such as MapInfo, ArcView, AutoCAD and Genamap. This conversion often requires the consideration of the spatial accuracy and currency of the data to ensure that the data accuracy is suitable for the clients intended use, and the data integrity is maintained.GIS technical support to internal and external clients ranging from telephone and email support to group training sessions.The development of GIS applications to link spatial data to both corporate and asset management databases, eliminating the duplication of data maintenance and associated data integrity issues.Design and development of GIS web application solutions utilising the latest web based XML standards in the provision of GIS web mapping solutions – Scaleable Vector Graphics (SVG).

Development of both GIS and intranet applications to assist Council with its business processes. These include, but are not limited to the following:- GIS applications to link Councils corporate databases with MapInfo. Functionality included:- The ability to export property ownership information in a standard format suitable for analysis by external organisations.- User-friendly GIS interfaces to assist staff in viewing and analysing mapping information.The ability to view any correspondence or development applications that have been recorded for a particular property.Systems to update Council’s 149 certificate attributes utilising the GIS as a bulk update mechanism for the selected parcels of land.Capture of Council’s road network and property access locations using both aerial photography interpretation and GPS field capture methods. The development of GIS applications to generate rural addressing information for each property using a digital elevation model (DEM) and the road centre line data to calculate the distance to the property access point. Developed and conducted Internet and GIS training courses for Council’s employees.The development and pilot demonstration of a GIS web mapping application (Map Extreme) with full integration with Council’s textual databases.Extensive web application development utilising Active Server Pages (ASP) on both Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 servers to improve Council’s administration business processes.Significant savings and application support benefits achieved by the development of all GIS and web applications in-house.Design and development of Council’s intranet solution to further enable knowledge sharing throughout the organisation.Data analysis and manipulation using SQL and ODBC with Informix, Oracle and MS Access database in a client/server environment.
