Ultimately the goal is to build and provide access to highly liquid futures and options markets and price risk management tools. I help clients navigate the products and services offered at the CME and execute sales strategies to drive volume growth and revenue generation in both listed derivatives and OTC/Block transactions. The primary focus is energy, metals, agricultural markets, but with the energy transition gaining momentum, environmental commodities products such as emissions offsets and sustainable clearing are now central.Given the broad spectrum of markets at the CME including financial markets, you can also ask me about using Exchange traded derivatives to transition OTC FX to FX Futures and options and how you might manage the transition in interest rate markets from LIBOR, through the CME SOFR product suite.

Primary focus was to assist firms to transition from OTC to Exchange clearing via the ClearPort portal at a time of significant credit and market upheaval following the 2007-2009 financial crisis. This drove an expanded customer base and grew revenue for cleared OTC/Block business at NYMEX and CME Group for crude oil, refined products and freight/FFAs. The team built out volume in energy futures markets during European trading hours and I acted as key point of contact to energy clients, brokers and trade groups in the EMEA region.

I worked in the editorial unit of price reporting agency, Platts, now part S&P Global. S&P Global Platts provides independent energy news and benchmark prices for commodity markets around the world. The global team of 6 pricing reporters built out forward pricing curves/models for OTC energy swaps in crude oil, refined products and freight/FFAs.

Working on the World Desk for Reuters in London was a huge privilege for me as I started out on my career in London. There were slow days, followed by fast moving seismic news stories. It was a fascinating place, with great colleagues who had great stories from their various global adventures in journalism. I assisted the duty editor to manage all daily reporting schedules for political and general news and coordinated with reporters on major breaking news stories in EMEA.With everything that happened between 2001 - 2004 in geopolitics, this remains a role I will always cherish, even the early starts and late finishes, and always the clamour and noise of a newsroom.
