At A-dec I spent a year interning with the mechanical seating design group. Over the course of my internship I designed injection molded and sheet metal parts as well as life cycle testing fixtures. Working through the part design process taught me how design is not a strictly linear process and is instead more iterative while my work with life cycle testing gave me valuable FEA and experimental design experience. My internship at A-dec gave me an insight into the realities of the design process and how it differs form what's experienced in academics. Additionally, practicing my engineering skills as part of an established company has given me an insight into the business side of engineering.

FIRST Robotics is what got me interested in engineering. The creativity and ingenuity encouraged in the program gave me a passion for design and analysis that I enjoy using in my career.During my involvement with the program I served as a team leader for two years. As leader of the mechanical team, I oversaw the design and build of the robot as well as helped make decisions regarding design and functionality. FIRST taught me many helpful skills such as creativity, time management, attention to detail, and teamwork.
