Virata, (before being bought out by Globespan) were a fabless semiconductor company specialising in chipsets for DSL, and supporting software. My job was to overhaul the chip design activity, and introduce new technologies such as formal verification and signal integrity analysis.

Responsible for pre and post sales customer support and training for Synopsys Northern Europe (UK, Scandinavia, Benelux and Israel). Set up and maintain pre-sales engineering suppor and benchmarking. Set up and maintain post-sales customer support and education.

Field Applications Engineering manager. Ran the pre-sales FAE team for Mentor. Responsible for all aspects of pre-sales engineering. Worked closely with the sales team to apply resources in a timely fashion to pre-sales activities such as evaluations, benchmarks and demonstrations.

Various levels from junior to senior FAE and FAE group leader. Covered any and all aspects of technical pre-sales work (demonstrations, benchmarks, evaluations, presentations at customer events) in close co-operation with the sales team. This was a high-customer-contact role.
