My main responsibilities included asphalt density control and sample coring. I kept in contact with the paving foreman and the roller drivers to maintain awareness of compaction and progression. My position required that I be mobile and flexible with day/night shift transitions and jobs in and out of town. I also operated in a mobile laboratory performing concrete sample preparations and multiple types of sample gradations.

I was on call for the summer for various jobs and projects. I handled cleanup, remodeling, store construction, and landscaping to name a few. I learned to quickly adapt to each job demand as well as understand task priority of each supervisor. I also learned to rapidly synchronize with other workers to allow effective work and communication.

My job was to create and develop concepts for a new window add-on system that would enhance the look, function, and usability of the window type(s) it was designed for. I participated in design and brainstorm meetings throughout the summer. I spent the majority of my time with Autodesk Inventor, but frequently did hands-on shop work to integrate my prototypes into actual windows for presentation and feedback/improvement.

My project was on Chevron Alaska’s Cook Inlet Oil and Gas assets. I was responsible for input of quality data into their MASP (Maximum Allowable Surface Pressure) program. Utilizing the system to highlight problem wells, I researched well history files for mechanical issues potentially indicating well bore pressure anomalies. I analyzed the external force effects of shallow and depleted gas sands on the wells to identify stress areas in danger of collapse. I reduced complex oil and gas dynamics to simple forces impacting these wells and identified whether those forces exceeded the engineering design specifications of the individual well bores.

Active employment occurred in the summers of 2009 and 2010. Responsibilities included the following-Managed all store functions and worked with customers: Repaired/maintained bicycles, fit customers with rental bicycles, provided map, narrated trail directions, and repair kit if necessary, cashier. Set up Saturday market booth, Office Depot/ bank runs, distributed flyers to local businesses/hotels.
