During my tenure as CEO, the company grew from startup to more than 7 million members, 800,000 customers, and well over $100 million in annual revenue. Ideeli was acquired by Groupon (GRPN) in January 2014.

With its HelpExpress and Tech Check products, Alset helped large brands, including Best Buy, Hewlett Packard and Micro Warehouse use the Internet to simultaneously improve in-home service and better market new products to customers. The company also operated as an incubator for a variety of other ventures, including the Free Bandwidth Project and Couponica.com, a discount site with over a million users.

Aveo invented many aspects of the now-pervasive concept of pre-emptive technical support. Millions of copies of its flagship product, Attune, were shipped by over 30 leading PC and peripheral manufacturers, including Hewlett Packard, Gateway, Dell, Kensington and Logitech. It monitored computer functions, prompting users to take simple actions to prevent or resolve problems. I co-designed the user interface for this software, which dramatically decreased incoming tech support call volumes while protecting user privacy. In addition, the software prompted users to purchase relevant products and services based on the use of their PC - the first of its kind to provide timely, helpful purchase suggestions while preserving user privacy.

Cypress Research was a global leader in OEM communication software. The company’s MegaPhone software was adopted by leading PC manufacturers like Apple, Compaq, and Dell, and shipped over 10 million copies in 23 countries. The company worked with Intel to offer one of the earliest widely distributed videophones to consumers. The company also created Cypress Shopper, which combined e-commerce with embedded upgrade and commerce technology years in advance of the Internet.
