About Pauline Fogarty
As a Registered Social Worker with a specialization in addictions and mental health, I am a skilled counsellor, coordinator and facilitator. I completed the Honours Bachelor of Social Work Program at Lakehead University and hold a Graduate Certificate in Concurrent Disorders. I was most recently employed as a Part-Time Instructor at Oshki Wenjack Education and Training Institute in the Indigenous Wellness Addictions Prevention Diploma Program. I was able to graduate two cohorts of students in the three years to whom I instructed Pharmacology and The History and Philosophy of Social Work. I also acted as Field Placement Coordinator and Field Placement Preparation Instructor for both classes of graduates. Through class and community activities to enhance the job skills and work experience for students graduating from the program. My Social Service Worker Diploma combined with my Recreation & Leisure Services Diploma, makes me an ideal candidate for employment in a diverse range of capacities within community development.I have extensive knowledge of community resources which was developed through employment as a Mental Health and Addictions at Alpha Court. In this capacity, I linked persons experiencing mental health challenges to a broad range of local services. This experience enhanced my team communication and problem solving skills along with enhancing my client consultation and collaboration of services.As Mental Health Coordinator for the Ontario Native Women’s Association, I managed a caseload of thirty clients, which included intake, screening, and assessment tools, individual and group counselling and crisis intervention. I also developed educational materials and delivered public information sessions about mental health related topics. I was a part of a team consisting of housing, child and youth, justice, health, and family workers who met regularly to deliver quality services. I gained proficiency with computer information systems and online communication systems.
