Responsible for leading human resources, communications, environment, health and safety and procurement for the world's largest glass container manufacturer and preferred partner for many of the world's leading food and beverage brands. With revenues of $7 billion, the company employs more than 24,000 people at 81 plants in 21 countries.

Paul became Executive Vice President for Royal DSM, a Dutch-based Material Science and Life Sciences company in 2009 and is responsible for the Human Resources function in this €8 billion company with 200 sites in 49 countries. The company employs 23,000.

The Commercial Businesses are nine business units, accounting for $5.5 billion revenues and 20,000 employees in 325 locations throughout 55 countries. Significant growth in China, India, Latin America, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic and the Middle East. Led the human resource function, including Vice Presidents of HR for each of the business units and centers of excellence in talent acquisition, leadership development, employee and labor relations and compensation. Fluid Technology transformed from a product focused to a market focused organization. Significant organizational changes were required.Top-grading talent in key leader roles. 64% of leadership talent has been changed in the past 2 years.

Worked with the Executive Group President for global business units headquartered in Europe as well as corporate leader for HR in the region. Established an HR organization for Alcoa’s businesses in Europe ($5.5 billion) with 35,000 employees. The organization was established primarily through M&A activity involving many formerly State owned companies. A strategy was agreed to integrate the function, to establish shared services for transactional work, to create a center of expertise for HR consulting and to develop strong business unit partners. The strategy was executed on time and under budget. Led HR due diligence and integration of two Russian aluminium facilities. The venture represented ~$500 million initial investment and had 12,000 employees.

Responsible for $1 billion expense through corporate services organization and leadership of functional objectives aligned with multiple business unit strategies. The primary functional objective was to offset the forecast cost increases in U.S. health care for 120,000 active and retired employees. Changes orchestrated resulted in $174 million savings while increasing value and customer service. Strong working partnerships were established with the business and human resource leaders from the 20 business units operating in North America. Successfully led a very large and heavily matrixed organization. Won the Chairman's Award for Best Resource Unit Initiative.

Responsible for multiple manufacturing facilities with $110M asset base and $150M revenues. The operations produced alumina based chemical products. The business challenge was to achieve profitability from assets that had historically operated at a loss. Achievements: NOPAT increased 142%, Conversion COGS % dropped 19.7 pts, GASE/PAE reduced by 20%, Average Capital reduced by 24%, and NFF transformed from -$1.2 million to +$10 million. Further, safety total recordable injury rate decreased 66% and environmental measures improved by 90%
