I entered this job viewing it as a typical part-time job for a rising college student, but I've gained more skills than I originally anticipated. In a workplace that hires primarily high schoolers, they seek guidance when they're nervous over their first job. My managers encouraged me to train new employees on registers as I walked them through steps that practiced their multi-tasking and people skills.This led me to attending the self check-out stations which allowed me to interact more with regular customers who are also a part of our community. The position calls for educating guests on how to use the machines and as an inspiring educator, I take that expectation literally. I aim to clarify customers' understanding of the machines and assist with coupons and inquiries whenever it's possible. I also look forward to connecting with the public as I learned forming bonds with not only coworkers but with guests.

This daycare setting granted me experiences with elementary-aged children that provided insight to more complex learning. Days consisted of me expanding the children's creativity when they wanted to doodle after extensive homework hours of reading, writing and mathematics. Each observation session showed me more and more that learning is a unique process for each child. There were moments where I had to use blocks for children who require tactile learning to understand counting. Some children found it easier to read their sight words when the word was slowly written out for them. It's rewarding to see a child excel after researching techniques that best communicate the material in a way they can comprehend.
