This school employer relationship was built on trust and the enterprising principles of the school.The school curriculum allowed for commissioned projects undertaken for employers at little or no cost that stretched young peoples abilities and added real world relevance. My role was to broker this work with employers and match this to curriculum outcomes to enable the development of enterprising and employability skills amongst the young people.

Managed the strategy of and the team within the learner entitlement area. This area encompassed Alternative Curriculum (Key Stage 4 pupils and those Not in Employment, Education or training (NEETs)), Additional Learning Support, Initial Advice and Guidance, student enrichment, student counselling and welfare, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity. This broad supportive remit had students at the heart and supported the learning journey from pre-enrolment through to exit and progression and all points along the way. The team consisted of 100 staff with 10 functional managers. The role had a key strategic remit to engage and develop links with the community to develop new markets, new curriculum, new groups and create partnership and collaborative opportunities.Further responsibilities of the role were recruitment and with that opportunities to generate new business opportunities beyond traditional FE recruitment.The role was integral to developing the college as a community hub, which required networking with community groups, charities, employers and public sector bodies. The role provided a holistic supportive function to an individual’s learning from pre-enrolment (including re-engagement) through to exit and progression and all points along the way. I managed an internal budget of £1.8m. The team were crucial in supporting academic staff in the college in the meeting of retention, attendance and achievement targets through mentoring, support and guidance.Strategic development was lead through tendering across funding streams that include Welfare to Work initiatives, national initiatives now funded through local authority, and more targeted bid writing for access to additional funds such as Learning Skills Improvement Service.I also chaired the Yorkshire and Humber AoC IAG steering groups and sat on local steering groups for alcohol misuse and the minority ethnic community
