Responsible for the architecture and engineering of the Desktop platform, Remote Access, Citrix, Active Directory, Systems Management and Resource Provisioning• Leadership, management and motivation of the 70+ workforce, spanning 5 countries (US, UK, Switzerland, India & APAC), with a large contingent from Cognizant in Hyderabad.• Partnered with the End User Services CTO to create and syndicate the End User Workspace strategy covering End User Devices, adaptable workspaces and increased productivity. Focus on EUX, Automation, Self-Service, Self-Provisioning, Cloud and an Evergreen strategy, with its purpose to move the user to a ‘workspace’ strategy focused on delivering the applications that the user needs, on the device that they need in the location they want.• Drove the evolution of the End user platform towards a user centric, mobile, consumer-friendly model through the creation of a flexible infrastructure including: WES7 thin clients, VMs, ESX, XenDesktop, XenApp, and streaming on-demand applications via AppV, AppVolumes and PVS.• Ownership of the AD Simplification strategy, combining the rationalisation of the UBS Active Directory infrastructure with a modernisation element focusing on Azure federation and identity management. Design goal reduction of 13 forests down to 3. • Created mitigation strategies for the ongoing migration of the Exchange 2003 environment to Exchange 2010, identifying migration gaps and establishing a set of activities to close issues to prevent blockers.• Envisaged, designed, created and implemented multiple solutions for customers; Corporate Branding solution, Office Wayfinding and IT Security Risk solutions.• Led the workforce strategy within EUS, documenting the Engineering team drivers and creating a framework to drive and measure workforce ratios aligned to product portfolio. This framework was used to establish a high cost ‘Architects’ onshore vs low cost ‘Commodity’ offshore/nearshore model.

Responsible for the leadership and direction of the EUS Engineering team covering, Unified Comms and Collaboration, Desktop, Windows Server, Remote Access and Citrix, Systems Management, AD and Resource Provisioning• Leadership and accountability for over 120 staff in 5 countries.• Financial responsibility for workforce budget ~ 13 million CHF and partner with Product Management with responsibilities to ~100 million CHF• Full product lifecycle management of over 100 products from Product Management and Engineering to delivery.• Technical architecture lead for the outsourcing of Engineering to HP\DELL. Delivered a counter-proposal to keep engineering services in-house to retain institutional knowledge and ensure accountability for key decisions and technical direction. • Technical leadership for the engineering efforts to build a new desktop platform and the migration to Windows 7 (DTP – 3 year programme) from Windows XP, including the shift from 3 Active Directory user forests to one global user forest. • Delivery of Exchange 2010 migration, moving from multiple exchange organisations to one unified exchange org (aligned to Active Directory strategy). Mailboxes • Creation of the initial private cloud proof of concept based on Azure and Windows 2008 R2. • Accountable for the Global Microsoft Support Services contract. Renegotiated the EUS Engineering Cognizant T&M contract into a Managed Service, Output based contract creating a more cost effective contract, but giving Cognizant more freedom to create better products through increase accountability.
