Paul is an entrepreneur with expertise in brand, marketing, customer experience and communications consultancy. In 1999, at the age of 22, Paul founded the communications agency, Metromedia Group. Under Paul’s leadership as Chief Executive Officer, the company enjoyed phenomenal growth; from startup to New Zealand’s largest independent agency in six years, employing 55 staff with group revenue exceeding $10m. Paul went on to be named New Zealand’s EY Young Entrepreneur of Year.In 2007, Metromedia Group was acquired by Ogilvy & Mather, the world’s largest communications consultancy network. Paul led newly-formed OgilvyMetro for three years before the agencies were merged as Ogilvy New Zealand – forming the country’s biggest agency with 240 staff across two offices. He was appointed as Executive Director of Ogilvy, where he served for another six years, helping to transform the agency into a truly integrated powerhouse. He also co-launched Geometry New Zealand (formerly Ogilvy Action, the shopper marketing and retail experience agency), RedWorks (a production company), and Neo Media (the digital-first global performance marketing agency).Paul was appointed Managing Director of Clemenger Group’s 99 in 2015, a communications consultancy with 130 staff, specialising in retail marketing solutions. Here, Paul implemented a significant transformation strategy, successfully building 99 into the country’s first large scale customer experience (CX) agency, now Proximity New Zealand.Leaving Clemenger Group in 2018, Paul co-founded Helius Therapeutics, an innovative GMP-certified biopharmaceuticals company researching, developing and manufacturing next-generation cannabinoid medicines. A startup company in a startup industry, Helius emerged as leaders in New Zealand, attracting $48m in private investment between 2018-2021. Paul served as a director and CEO.Paul has worked with many outstanding local and global brands, such as Coca-Cola, BMW, New World, Auckland Council, House of Travel, Pernod Ricard, Fuji Xerox, Briscoes, Green Cross Health, IBM, Kiwi Property, Mazda, Warehouse Stationery, Sealord, GJ Gardner Homes, Spark, Tip Top, Griffin’s and L’Oreal.Today, Paul works through his independent business consultancy, Arcade, supporting innovative companies in New Zealand and around the world. He is a founder of property investment firm, Haven Funds, and an Independent Director of Charta Property Group, a leading property management and real estate company.
