Reported to the divisional Vice-President, with accountability for all aspects of divisional accounting for a metal fabrication division with annual sales revenues of $200 million, 10 locations and 400 employees across Canada. Prepared monthly/yearly branch and divisional consolidated financial statements, monthly journal entries and monthly sales reporting for distributors and a depot network. Performed cost accounting for metal fabrication services, welding products and welding gases. • Evaluated the costing of our gases produced in our plants which led to an overall improvement in our gross profit on these gases• Led a team that made improvements to our depot network workflow, which led to more complete and accurate depot paperwork and improved sales efficiencies.• Upon reviewing the electricity consumption at one of our plants I realized a cost savings of $200,000 in our results as the calculation being used was a simple average instead of a weighted average.

Following Messer Canada’s acquisition by Air Liquide, worked with the Air Liquide finance team to coordinate the integration of Messer’s entire accounting function (including personnel, systems, reporting) into the Air Liquide operation. Managed staff selection and retention decisions. Presented information on acquisition & integration processes to Messer’s management team. Served on the Messer Canada board of directors during this process.Prepared 4 sets of monthly & annual financial statements for 11 locations in Ontario and Quebec. This included the consolidation of 4 systems in an AS/400 accounting environment. Supervised a staff of 8, overseeing accounting, A/P, A/R, inventory, cost accounting and computer network administration.• Implemented a system to ensure that proper procedures and controls were in place for cash sales and ensuring that bank reconciliations were completed regularly, journal entry errors were identified and cash flow was improved.• Analyzed intercompany charges from our parent company in the US which revealed over charges of $10,000 per month and also gave the ability to recognize all bulk sales revenue of $200,000 monthly.
