Network Manager
Work as the Network Manager for the Troy School District, overseeing eight buildings with approximately 6,000 clients (students and staff) and approximately 5,000 devices. Design and implement enterprise standards for ISP upgrades, network switchgear, wireless access points, LAN cabling, WAN infrastructure, data rooms and content filtering. Manage Vyatta routers, Aerohive wireless, Windows servers, a technology wiki (NAVI), network stability and reliability. Provide Tier 2 support for school technology associates, along with a help-desk system (PMOS).Research and make budgetary decisions that save the district money, yet still effectively serve the client base. For example, recommended and embraced reliable technology, such as netbooks, net-tops, All-In-Ones, wireless projecting, Aerohive wireless, Chromebooks, Chromeboxes and Google hangouts. Over a three-day period in July 2016, successfully configured and installed new HP switchgear in eight data closets across three buildings. In Summer 2013, managed a group that operated district-wide in updating images via FOG, switch management, cabling for new wireless installation, scanner installation, upgrading wireless infrastructure, wireless projectors, server upgrades, fiber link upgrades, and Windows 8.1 migration. Currently serve as the Google administrator for all Chrome OS devices in the district. Oversee all software-based modifications and policy implementations for teacher and student devices. On those devices, also manage a content filtering/student monitoring system called GoGuardian. Oversee the work and needs of technology associates in seven buildings that support staff members and students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Assumed a leadership role within the department by working with the group to accomplish our tasks. This has allowed me to unify the group during challenging times, complicated projects, and normal day-to-day operations.
Tech Aide
As a technology aide I am responsible for the maintenance of approximately 600 dual-core computers including Dell laptops, slates, desktops and Toshiba tablets. Additionally maintain approximately 600 other pieces of technology including Polycom VoIP phones, Netgear and UniFi wireless access points, networked and shared HP color and black and white printers, NEC Projectors, MIMIO smart board devices, a video distribution system, with several rack-mounted servers, iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and smartphones, netbooks, monitors, document cameras, sound bars and scanners. I established a computing and communication environment by being involved in the set up and opening of the new school and by providing broad based support to all schools in the district. In the first year with the district, I received a commendation of quality for my work with the staff in organizing a school wide multi-media activity for staff and students. To improve server room configuration, I removed, replaced, organized and labeled over 1200 cables in 10 days at 7 different buildings. I supported 100+ staff and educators and over 1000 students. I have arranged and held several instructional courses for teachers and staff on the implementation of new technology and services that I researched and introduced to the teaching curricula. I also oversaw multiple group based summer upgrade activities on a district wide implementation.

I worked in the Nuclear Engineering (NE) Division at the NE Helpdesk and as an IT support technician. My term in NE focused on technical support and maintenance of the systems in several buildings around Argonne. I worked on computers ranging from Pentium II boxes to the latest in hyper-threaded Gateway and Dell Server and nodes. In the Software Development section of Computing and information Systems (CIS), I worked on script conversions from the HP servers to the new Sun servers. I assisted the development team for the new Gate Pass system. Performed user interface and usability testing for the online training application called “Training by Design” used for building information and training. I tested and troubleshot web applications on the Opera Browser and converted Crystal Reports for SQL*Server migration.
Student Intern
worked primarily with wireless networking and the practical applications for the Laboratory in the networking group of Electronics & Computing Technologies (ECT).
