Paul founded Digital Defense Security (DDS) in 2019 with like-minded cyber architects and vCISOs. The goal; bring cybersecurity awareness and management to the underserved and defend what is rightfully theirs from malicious actors, both foreign and domestic.

Paul accepted the position of Director of Cybersecurity at Zions in the closing month of 2018 where he was accountable for Threat Intelligence, Cyber Architecture, and Data Engineering teams. Paul championed and contributed to several initiatives in the cybersecurity arena, including WAF, CASB, EPP, DAM, and DRM programs. Paul's group was a key stakeholder in the DLP initiative to improve data protection through the strategic application of disparate systems to protect sensitive data, regardless of environment or medium. This included design and deployment of classification, encryption, & obfuscation solutions to increase good data stewardship. The Threat Intelligence team provided context and urgency of existing and emerging threats to both cyber and non-cyber divisions, ensuring limited resources tackle the right risks. Last but not least, Paul and his architecture team drafted standards and controls for existing and upcoming projects in cloud, network, virtualization, container, and development to provide necessary guidance for agile, yet secure, innovation.

Paul joined Rio Tinto in 2017 and coordinated security expertise for global IT initiatives across multiple business units. In addition to global cyber security architecture, he also led the Cyber Security Risk and Advisory team for North America, Europe, and Africa. His responsibilities included guiding architecture decisions, application selection, risk management, and product selection for the international footprint of Rio Tinto within the framework of security, identity, and compliance.

As the Senior Director of IT, Paul was responsible for total IT program management, reporting directly to the CEO. During his tenure he established security and DR programs for flagship applications while overseeing private to public cloud migrations and building a hybrid onshore/offshore IT team of Engineers, DBAs, Admins and Help Desk professionals. Paul anchored Healthicity security program initiatives such as HIPPA compliance, Data Classification and Encryption, Phishing Awareness, and SIEM Operations with Splunk while reducing downtime balanced with major revision releases.

During his 7 year tenure, Paul worked directly under the CIO, managing the IT Operations, TelCom, and Helpdesk teams, with support to over 300 remote-site locations. Paul created the Change Control and Security programs for 1-800 Radiator, including PCI-DSS compliance through multiple private/public data-center and cloud migrations. His high availability and security efforts yielded multi-year service up-time records of five nines with double-digit revenue growth for every year of his service.

As Associate Director, Paul led IT initiatives across multiple verticals including Cyber-security, Research & Development, Auditing, and Infrastructure while collaborating with global teams stationed in the US and Ireland. He was responsible for the future planning and infrastructure initiatives for IT, including AD Delegation, GPO creation, infrastructure lifecycling, and compliant ESX deployments both local and abroad. Paul also managed multiple migration projects including Active Directory, Citrix, Exchange, MS Office, and client OS and data migrations for white glove end-users.

Paul joined BAE to facilitate FBI Directory Service, Server, Client, and Exchange migrations from NT 4.0/Novell 4.11 to Windows and Exchange 2000. He extended his responsibilities to include SAN Administration, Open Network Security Administration, and creating custom learning courses for Agents and Support on productivity, network access, and topology. Highlights for Paul included presenting at the 2004 FBI ITEC Conference, acquiring CART accreditation for forensic analysis, upgrading the Regional Computer Forensics Lab (RCFL) network to fibre, and developing a custom hybrid deployment for the RCFL training center to facilitate rapid image deployment or Rainbow Tables distributed password cracking.

Paul's brief stint at Autodesk was as a Subject Matter Expert for Windows 2000, AD, and Enterprise migration and management. He headed the global engineering team spanning North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, supporting over 800 servers and 5000 users. Paul leveraged enterprise solutions of WSUS and Altiris to decrease patching windows and client data recovery from days to hours while also managing DHCP Consolidation, DNS topology, and AD/Exchange migration projects.

Sandia National Laboratories utilized Paul's experience in AD migration and administration to successfully migrate the SON, SRN and SCN Directory Services from NT 4.0 through Windows 2003. He also led interoperability initiatives for AD/LDAP, DNS/BIND, SPNEGO/Kerberos, and SMB/Samba to better integrate Linux and Windows environments. Paul worked with the AD team to test and deploy delegation, GPOs and IPSEC policies across networks while also volunteering on the Rapid-Response Team for detecting and responding to cyber threats on the network.

Paul worked at Sun Healthcare Group for three years while working through the ranks of the Help Desk, Imaging, Kronos, and Server teams, supporting over 10,000 users across the United States. He consistently completed projects ahead of schedule and was repeatedly recognized for superior customer service while on the Help Desk and Kronos teams. His Network administration tenure included administration across Redhat, Novell and Windows systems while deploying Clustered services, Citrix Applications, IIS, SQL and Active Directory systems across the enterprise and was a key member of the Directory Services upgrade from 4.0 to 2000.

Paul started his IT career as a Microsoft Certified Trainer, where he was an instructor for the MCSE, A+, Office, HTML, DOS, and Windows curriculum. He not only taught official curriculum, but also created custom courses for the MCSE and Engineering tracks. Paul was awarded instructor of the month and maintained a superior ranking (+9.0/10) from his students for the breadth of his tenure.
