In the winter of 2001, while working at Chorum Technologies, Paul helped me get a FPGA design working. I specifically remember the two of us working late into the very day that he was scheduled to start his Christmas vacation. I remember him speaking to his wife one minute and to an "Inside Altera" contact the next, for several hours. He had pressure from various directions to stop working and pick up after Christmas but that is not what he did. Paul stayed and worked with me until we had the particular issue resolved. The second memory I have of Paul is roughly 3 years ago when I was implementing parts of the Altera VIP (Video Image Processing) suite into a new FPGA design. The initial documentation of the IP was very poor and the two of us sat in my cube for many long hours on many days analyzing verilog and running signal tap to figure out what the IP was doing and how we could work around various issues. The ultimate result of Pauls’ efforts in helping me had a direct impact on the successful introduction of the AMX DVX product line.
